“Analyst Predicts Big Season for Brooklyn Nets’ Cam Thomas”

The Brooklyn Nets’ season begins tonight, and it could be a historic season for shooting guard Cam Thomas.

As the Nets look for sources of offense, Thomas’ role could end up expanding.

That’s why Bleacher Report writer Zach Buckley believes Thomas could win the league’s scoring title.

“He is a premier scorer, and he should get a chance to showcase that skill early and often for this mid-rebuild Brooklyn team,” Buckley writes. “Who is even pushing him to take shots in this squad? Mikal Bridges is gone, Dennis Schröder appears to be a prime trade candidate, and Ben Simmons and Nic Claxton are both doing their best on defense. All due respect to Noah Clowney and Dariq Whitehead.” and Jalen Wilson, but there aren’t any top-tier talents in need of a ton of development help either, so when Thomas hits the hardwood he has a chance to feast on a buffet of scoring opportunities (the latter) . (The season’s 51 starts and 31.4 minutes were both career highs.) He has a non-zero chance of hitting 30 points a night and becoming the lowest-scoring champion in league history.”

Thomas, 23, went from averaging 10.6 points in the 2022-23 season to 22.5 points per game last season. If he can make a similar leap this season, Thomas could become one of the league’s top scorers, which would make him an interesting player at the trade deadline and in the offseason after the Nets failed to agree to a contract extension before the start of the year.
