With UBS Football Skills, football-loving children and young people can demonstrate their skills. Shania and Carla are also there. Was the two young talents motivated and how are they supported by their families?

Becoming professional footballers – that is the big dream of Shania (11) and Carla (10). In order to get closer to their goal, the two young talents train three times a week, and there is always a match on Saturday. For over two years they have had another opportunity to improve their skills: Shania and Carla are now part of the football community of the UBS Football Skills web app and show with every new exercise what real girl power means.

More exercises appear every month that kids can learn via the app. As soon as the training exercise has been shot, a video of it is either recorded and uploaded, or for clubs whose coaches already use the educational and innovative UBS Football Skills app, the QR code can be scanned – the points are automatically credited.

Whoever masters the most tricks at the end wins. Shania and Carla are already at the top of the rankings, but competition? None! “We motivate each other,” says Carla. “Thanks to the app, we learn exercises that we can use in training or in matches,” adds Shania.

With UBS Football Skills, football-loving children and young people can develop their skills and have a lot of fun at the same time. New skills and/or activities are presented monthly for you to master. Simply upload a video of it and collect points – with the chance of winning cool prizes, such as signed jerseys from professionals. Coaches also benefit from the web app to specifically support their players. As the main partner of the SFV, UBS actively invests in the future of Swiss football: 50 percent of the contributions go directly to supporting young talent.

Challenge as a family project

For Shania and Carla, UBS Football Skills is a real family project. “As soon as a new trick is known, we go out onto the pitch – and everyone is there,” says Carla’s mother Rosanna. “The motivation is huge and we are happy to help her,” adds Shania’s mother Nadine. We practice together until the trick works. “My mom can’t play football,” laughs Shania. “At least mine can juggle a bit,” Carla interjects. And the dads? The two girls agree: “We are better than our daddies!”

The two of them’s favorite skills are juggling and the “calf catch”, which they also show in the video. One trick they really want to do is “Around the World,” which involves moving your foot around the ball while it’s in the air. Like here at Alayah Pilgrim.

Whoever scores receives prizes

Shania has already got a jersey from her idol Noemi Ivelj, and Carla has one from Ana Maria Marković. Both professional players made careers at GC. Shania and Carla recently moved to this club from FC Baden Wettingen. Who knows, maybe Shania and Carla will one day follow in their footsteps and play for the main team? Or even for the national team, which they will be enthusiastically keeping their fingers crossed for at the next international matches and the EURO 2025 next summer? Until then, they will continue to collect points for their successful skills in the app and prove their football knowledge in the quiz mode. Are they already better than the dads there?
