Watch Party for the New York production of Lord Byron’s play “Sardanapalus,” October 28

The Department of English will host a watch party for a New York production of Lord Byron’s 1821 play “Sardanapalus.” on Monday, October 28, at 6:30 p.m. at Cudahy 118. The two-hour recording includes a live post-production question-and-answer session with actors from the Red Bull Theater production in New York City.

After the screening, participants are encouraged to stay for a discussion about the piece. The watch party is supported by the Keats-Shelley Association of America, which sponsors similar watch parties around the world.

Set in ancient Assyria, the play examines the tragic fall of the last Assyrian king and his decadent reign. At the same time, it deals with questions about love, gender and politics that still concern us today.
