Six international stars to watch in the 2024-25 NBA season

The Frenchman followed his sensational Rookie of the Year debut in the NBA last season with a special performance at the Olympics. He led France in points (15.8), rebounds (9.7), assists (3.3), steals (2.0) and blocks (1.7) per game Les Bleus took silver after a titanic battle against the USA in the gold medal game.

One of the reasons “Wemby” is so much fun to watch play is simply how different he looks to everyone on the field around him. At 7-foot-4 with an 8-foot wingspan, Wembanyama towers over everyone (well, almost anyone – see Zach Edey below) and can collect any lob that comes remotely close to the basket for an easy dunk. The same goes for his defense; Timid shots around the rim lead to volleyball spike blocks, or, if he feels like it, Wembanyama simply snatches the shot out of the air in one motion and makes his way to the other end of the court with his gigantic stride can be reached in just a few steps.

The 20-year-old is already in the conversation for the MVP award this season even before the Spurs have played a single game. That’s how good he is and will continue to be in the years to come.
