Maryland Daily Record names Morgan President David K. Wilson Most Admired CEO and 2024 Maryland Higher Ed Power Player of the Year

Inclusion on the annual lists recognizes exemplary individual leadership, vision, influence and significant contributions to higher education in Maryland

BALTIMORE — Adding to an already impressive accumulation of awards and honors Maryland daily record has named Morgan State University President David K. Wilson “Most Admired CEO 2024.” Additionally, the release also named Wilson as one of Maryland’s most influential players on the 2024 Higher Education Power List.

The Most Admired CEOs award honors talented business executives, higher education leaders and nonprofit executive directors across Maryland whose leadership and vision are admired by those around them. A jury selects winners based on their professional achievements, community service and letters of reference submitted by colleagues, fellow board members and community leaders. The Higher Education Power List is selected by The daily record‘s editorial leadership team with input from community members. It includes the most significant, influential and respected figures in Maryland higher education.

This is not the first time The Daily record has recognized and/or honored Morgan’s president. In three consecutive years, from 2021 to 2023, Wilson was named to the Maryland Power 100 list, and in four additional years (2018, 2016, 2014 and 2011) he received the Influential Marylander Award. In 2020 he was named an ICON Honoree. The daily recordThe ICON Honors recognize Maryland leaders over the age of 60 for their remarkable success and demonstration of strong leadership skills both within and outside of their chosen field.

President Wilson, who was recognized nationally in 2023 Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Prize in Education Winner, is the nation’s longest-serving president of a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). For more than a decade, President Wilson has not only been a transformative president at Morgan, but has also become a leader among university presidents across the country and an effective advocate for HBCUs in their role in developing leaders and meeting needs their community, their state and their state developed nation. Wilson has a long history of success in his more than 30 years in higher education administration, particularly at Morgan.

The Maryland daily record will recognize Wilson, one of three 2024 honorees in the higher education category, during a special ceremony at the Hilton Baltimore BWI Airport in November.
