Name released in fatal crash in Turner County

BERESFORD, SD (Dakota News Now) – A Nebraska woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash near Beresford.

The two-vehicle collision occurred at 11:15 a.m. Saturday

Preliminary crash information indicates that 45-year-old Tracy A. Mortenson of Laurel, Nebraska, the driver of a 2018 Ford Explorer, was traveling eastbound on SD Highway 46.

At the same time, the driver of a 2018 Ford F-150 was traveling north on SD 19 and failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of SD 46.

The vehicles collided and threw both into the northeastern ditch.

Mortenson died at the scene.

The driver of the Ford F-150 suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. All information released so far is only preliminary.
