CATS waives bus fares for early voting on Election Day in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Baton Rouge residents who need a ride to vote have two options for free public bus rides to the polls.

According to the Capital Area Transit System (CATS), all fares will be waived on Saturday, October 26th and Tuesday, November 5th to help residents access the polls beginning with early voting and on Election Day.

CATS CEO Theo Richards says the company wants to ensure transportation is not a barrier to anyone wanting to cast their vote.

“By providing free rides, we hope to help our community get to the polls safely and easily,” Richards said.

According to CATS, passengers can board any CATS bus throughout the service area without paying a fare. Regular service schedules apply. No special ID cards or vouchers are required.

For more information about routes, schedules or other services, see BR CATS website or contact CATS customer service at (225) 389-8282.
