NEW ORLEANS – Crescent City Sports’ live streaming coverage of high school football highlights one of the New Orleans area’s great rivalries Thursday night, with a new twist.

Edna Karr and Warren Easton have faced off in district play, state semifinals and state championships, but Thursday marks the first time the schools meet as members of District 9-5A. Coverage from Tad Gormley Stadium begins at 6:20 p.m., with kick-off scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Vashon Jones and Wayde Keizer will describe the action.

The Cougars (6-0, 4-0) are the top-ranked team in the Division I Select Power rankings and the Crescent City Sports Class 5A rankings. Karr is led by quarterback John Johnson and his favorite target, wide receiver and LSU commit TaRon Francis, who is the seventh-ranked prospect in the state in the class of 2025.

Two juniors on the defensive side of the ball are also committed to LSU – safety Aiden Hall and 340-pound defensive lineman Richard Anderson. Both are ranked among the top 10 players in Louisiana next year by 247Sports.

While the Fighting Eagles (3-4, 0-4) have not defeated Karr on the field since 2015, the series has produced some classic matchups, with three meetings since 2018 being decided by one or two points, including a classic 35- 34th game of 2019 for the Class 4A state championship.

Easton — which made the jump from Class 4A to 5A this season — has its own LSU commitment in junior offensive lineman Jalan Chapman, a top-20 player in Louisiana for the class of 2026. The Eagles are led offensively by led by two other juniors, dual-threat quarterback Carl Reed and running back Thomas Vaughn.

The Crescent City Sports team is in its 14th season of producing live broadcasts for television and the Internet, having produced more than 500 live streams since 2012 and continuing its extensive commitment to preparing sports coverage on its website for 2024-25 .
