Max Holloway calls career-defining moment, and it’s not the Justin Gaethje knockout

Max Holloway has revealed his career-defining moment, and it’s not ousting Justin Gaethje at UFC 300.

Holloway is undoubtedly a future UFC Hall of Famer. His resume speaks for itself: championship gold and big wins over other fan favorites. If you asked around, many UFC fans would cite Holloway’s last-second knockout win over Gaethje in April as his crowning moment.

“Blessed” disagrees with this point of view.

Max Holloway was interviewed by ESPN Deportes’ Carlos Contreras Legaspi ahead of UFC 308. “Blessed” revealed that his career-defining moment was wresting the UFC featherweight championship from Jose Aldo in enemy territory.

“I mean, it’s the featherweight champion of the world,” Holloway said. “It’s the fight against the King of Rio in Rio. Nothing will ever top this moment for me and my career, personally. Some other people might top what I did to Gaethje, but for me personally it’s like, I did this to the King of Rio.” Rio, Jose Aldo, one of my idols, still my idol, that one moment will never be surpassed.

Holloway will be hoping to create another memorable moment when he takes on Topuria in Abu Dhabi this Saturday.
