UFC parts ways with ‘company man’ who took ‘big’ short-term risks – ‘I didn’t want to say no’

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) continues to make room in its massive roster of mixed martial arts (MMA) talent.

Just yesterday, UFC roster tracker revealed this Jake Hadley – who secured a contract with a submission victory Mitch Raposo To Contender Series back in 2021 – is no longer with the promotion. And today (Wednesday October 23, 2024) Hadley confirms his release, but everyone needs to know he was not “cut.”

“I was not terminated, my contract expired,” Hadley wrote. “I took two big risks in my last two fights as a company boss and it bit me in the butt. Took over block head on a week’s notice but missed the weight that was obviously held against me, then took over cam on three days’ notice after originally training for a wrestling opponent. I understand that Cam didn’t do camp, but everyone is always ready for 3×5 seconds, Cmon.

“I proved vs. Block Head took the fight on the baby’s due date because the fight was offered and I didn’t want to say no to the UFC and be a company man, but oh well,” Hadley concluded. “If I choose to work with the UFC again, I know I can easily do it again.”

Hadley lost a unanimous decision to the UFC newcomer Cameron Smotherman at UFC Vegas 99 this past weekend as a -500 betting favorite.

And, for what it’s worth, “White Kong” – who was signed to a contract in season five Contender Series As previously mentioned, he lost weight before the fight, becoming the first fighter to miss weight and be eliminated from the show.

Not the best distinction.
