Bryce Young starts in place of Andy Dalton

On Tuesday, Dalton sprained himself in a car accident while driving with his wife, three children and dog. Fortunately, Dalton’s family suffered no major injuries.

Former first-round pick Young, traded for Dalton, will now start Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos.

“Definitely a scary moment. Everyone was fine. Everyone is healthy. Unfortunately, he was at the accident [Dalton] Sprained his thumb,” head coach Dave Canales said of Joe Person. “Bryce will play for us this week and we will evaluate Andy day by day until the weekend. [We’ll] Let’s see if we can get him [Dalton] like the two of them on game day.”

Since taking over for Young in Week 3, the 36-year-old Dalton has completed 106 of 160 passes for 989 yards, seven touchdowns and six interceptions. Dalton won his first start before losing the next four.

Bryce Young gets a second chance

Young was benched earlier this season after an 0-2 start after throwing zero touchdowns and three interceptions.

It was a nightmare start for Young. The No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Young is 2-16 as the Panthers’ starter. Young’s career numbers are 352 of 592 passes for 3,176 yards, 11 touchdowns and 13 interceptions, with a completion percentage of 59.5.

Now the 23-year-old Young gets a chance at redemption and a chance to prove he is capable of being a starting quarterback in this league.

The Panthers (1-6) play the Denver Broncos (4-3) in Week 8.
