How long will Paul George be out? Knee injury schedule, return date, latest updates on 76ers star

When the 76ers begin the 2024-25 NBA season, they will be without big offseason addition Paul George.

George, who signed with the franchise after spending the last five seasons in Los Angeles, will be sidelined for the start of the season because of a knee injury he suffered in the preseason. The 34-year-old is on Philadelphia’s long list of inactives, which also includes superstar center Joel Embiid.

Without Embiid or George, the Sixers could have a turbulent start to the new season. As Philadelphia awaits the return of its All-Star duo, here’s the latest on George, including his injury status and when he is expected to return.

What is Paul George’s injury?

George’s injury is described as a bone bruise in his left knee.

The nine-time All-Star suffered the injury in a preseason game on Oct. 14 when he hyperextended his left leg in a collision. He was taken out of the game, did not return and has not played since.

Despite how painful the injury looked at the moment, George’s injury was not considered particularly serious as his knee remained structurally intact.
