Here’s how to watch the Simone Biles documentary you won’t want to miss

If you’re still on a high from the 2024 Paris Olympics, you can look forward to Simone Biles’ documentary on Netflix this weekend. “Simone Biles Rising Part 2” begins airing Friday with an epic conclusion that takes us back to her record-breaking performance in Paris.

Part One: “Write Me in History”

If you missed part one, it follows Biles’ dominant return to the world stage after the disappointing Tokyo Olympics in 2021. In the documentary, she and her coaches recount how she reached a breaking point because her mind and her body could no longer were in harmony.

“I had to fight demons day in and day out in practice,” Biles says of the mental health work she knew needed to be done to get back in the game. But she was determined to write her own ending and used “I Rise” as the theme for the comeback “because it is the epitome of my story and career, even through the trauma. I always rise to the occasion.”

After starting training again in 2022, she took her sixth World Championship all-around gold in 2023 and took two more individual gold medals in balance beam and floor exercise. The documentary also covers Biles’ competition leading up to the Olympic Trials, where she qualified for the Olympics for the third consecutive year, becoming only the third American gymnast to achieve the feat.

Second part: “I worked for this for 27 years”

Part two of the docuseries begins where part one left off, as Biles seizes her chance to win her second Olympic all-around gold and help her team return to the top of the Olympic podium.

She explains, “Nothing makes your heart burn like when you are so determined to achieve a goal and you only have one chance to achieve it.”

You’ll see Biles take the stage at her third Olympic Games in Paris and her extraordinary performance to help Team USA regain the gold medal after winning silver at Tokyo 2020. Additionally, her individual journey is captured as she retrieved her second space – gold all around, gold on the vault and silver on the floor. But you’ll see more than just the victorious athletic achievements, as the documentary also tells the story of how Biles excels as a leader and puts her mental health first, including being a great advocate for athletes around the world who look up to her Example.

If you haven’t seen the first part yet, you can watch the first two episodes streaming on Netflix now. Part two of the docuseries premieres exclusively on Netflix on Friday, October 25th.
