LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Los Angeles police responded to a report of a shooting at Cathedral High School in Elysian Park on Wednesday, but it appeared to be a false alarm.

Around 1 p.m., a caller dialed 911 to report that a gunman was on campus and had apparently opened fire.

Police quickly surrounded and searched the school, after which the school was placed on lockdown. The LAPD later said there was no evidence of a shooting.

Parents who visited the campus said it was not the first time such an incident occurred at the school.

“I don’t know if someone is constantly calling, playing pranks or whatever. It was a problem,” said parent Richard Parker.

The LAPD says it is continuing its investigation to determine where the call came from and whether the incident may have been a case of swatting.
