Fire at Gwinnett County condominium displaces over…

Investigators in Gwinnett County are looking for the exact cause of Wednesday’s afternoon apartment complex fire.

According to the emergency call, the firefighters did not arrive until after 3:45 p.m Elliot Apartments is located at 4047 Northridge Way NW in Norcross. First responders arrive reported that a heavy fire broke out from the windows and attic of a three-story building.

During further investigation, officers observed an adult male attempting to break a window at the front of the building. Gwinnett Copunty Fire Department officials say in a news release that a bystander initially informed firefighters that a child was trapped inside. Rescue workers quickly entered the apartment and searched for victims. Search parties later discovered the apartment was empty.

The fire department used several fire hoses to bring the flames under control. Firefighters were able to knock down the flames at 4:20 p.m

No injuries were reported in this incident. Apartment managers began working with the American Red Cross Wednesday afternoon to initiate emergency assistance for the twenty tenants displaced by the fire.
