The blue USPS collection box was damaged by a fire in Phoenix overnight

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An overnight fire damaged a United States Postal Service collection box and its contents in Phoenix overnight, and it is unclear whether ballots were burned.

Firefighters responded to an unknown fire call at 7th Street and Indian School Road around 2 a.m

At the scene, Arizona family reporters were able to see a charred, damaged blue USPS collection box. The investigators went to the crime scene and emptied the contents of the box.

Green envelopes could be seen in the mail, which investigators removed. Arizona’s family has contacted USPS to confirm whether mail-in ballots were caught in the fire and damaged.

The collection box is located on the property of a USPS post office, so surveillance video may assist in the investigation.
