Beaufort County deputies link shooting to vehicle fire; two dead, one injured

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting and subsequent vehicle fire that left two people dead and another injured Wednesday evening.

The sheriff’s office received a report of a shooting at the corner of Parris Island Gateway and Trask Parkway in Burton around 10:20 p.m., officials said.

Minutes later, they received another report of a vehicle fire in the 800 block of Ribaut Road in Beaufort, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said the two incidents were related. Investigators determined there were three people in the vehicle at the time of the shooting. On the way to the hospital, the vehicle crashed and caught fire.

Two of the vehicle’s occupants are dead and a third is being treated for his injuries, officials said.

Autopsies are scheduled for Thursday. Investigators are gathering information from the public as part of their further investigation.
