Big South Tennis singles draws released, ten Runnin’ Bulldogs seeded for competition

CHARLOTTE, NC – This morning the Big South Conference officially released the individual seeds and match-ups for the upcoming conference singles and doubles tournaments. Ten Runnin’ Bulldogs are nominated to compete in the combined four men’s and women’s divisions.

Gardner-Webb is the standout school in the two men’s divisions, where seven different athletes will compete. These include: Eduardo Diasnumber 1 in men’s singles. He joins in too Numa Lemieux-Monette as the number 1 seeded couple in men’s doubles. Lemieux-Monette will continue to compete as the No. 4 seed in men’s singles.

Alex Lepine And Kim Niethammer also land on the bracket in men’s singles and are number 3 and number 6 respectively Johan Van Wijk at No. 10 and Alexandre Bergeron at No. 14 make it six different Runnin’ Bulldogs among 16 individual competitors.

Niethammer continues into doubles and joins his GWU colleague Jurie Terblanche as the No. 3 seed in the main draw to round out the Gardner-Webb men’s opening-round clash.

The Red and Black also see three athletes in the women’s tournament field, with two individual participants and another pairing in the doubles.

Alizee Poulin is ranked 6th in the women’s singles, right next to her teammate Emilia Roslund Who is in 7th place. Roslund will keep up Emma Shasteen also in women’s doubles, with the pair finishing in fourth place

The 2024 Big South Men’s and Women’s Singles Tennis Championships begin on October 26th and conclude with the championship game on October 27th.
