Watch Jimmy Failla Debate Liberal Comic Pete Dominick from Fox News

Despite its best efforts, Fox News was unable to secure the coveted presidential debate between the two Kamala Harris And Donald Trump. But Jimmy Failla didn’t waste his chance to take part in his own debate. The conservative comedian and Fox News Saturday Night host combined his wits with liberal humor Pete Dominick last week at the famed Comedy Cellar in Manhattan at an event hosted by the nonpartisan organization Open to Debate.

“I think filtering politics through the lens of comedy is super helpful because it creates an atmosphere where we can agree to disagree, which was a time-honored tradition that has been lost in today’s politics is,” Trump-supporting Failla tells TVNewser why he agreed to run against Harris-supporting Dominick.

“The elections have turned tribal conflicts so bitter that people are ending friendships over political differences,” the anchor added. “That’s a huge shame because there are so many better reasons to hate people than those who vote for them. “I’m talking to you, guy who FaceTimes on speakerphone at the supermarket.”

For the record, Dominick and Failla are longtime friends when they’re not discussing politics on stage. “This is a great couple,” Dominick said at the start of the event. “I really like Jimmy and always have. We take shots at each other because we’re comedians, but the bottom line is that comedians don’t care if it’s funny.”

This feeling is why the duo was so comfortable disagreeing in often heated ways. During their hour-long conversation – moderated by a journalist Nayeema Raza– the two regularly exchanged comments about their respective candidates. (You can watch the full version on YouTube.)

“Trump would absolutely put his name in the Grand Canyon if he could, just to ward off aliens,” Dominick once said.

“But if the aliens came, Biden would give them a stimulus check,” replied Failla. Dominick replied briefly: “And then they would do something great with us because they believe in work together.”

“What I enjoyed most was showing the Liberals a friendly face that is the complete opposite of how conservative voters are portrayed in the media,” Failla says of his open debate with Dominck. “It was important to me to show that Trump voters are not just angry Twitter trolls who want to own the Libs. Most of us don’t even want it rent the libraries.”
