New series to watch on Paramount+, Apple TV+, Disney+ and more

Netflix remains the largest streaming service by an order of magnitude compared to all other providers, but that doesn’t mean that its countless competitors aren’t constantly releasing new TV series and films for subscribers.

In fact, some of these smaller streaming providers are offering a variety of new content that’s worth checking out in the next few days. They range from documentaries to returning favorites to brand new original dramas. We’ll take a closer look at these new non-Netflix titles below. And as always, don’t forget to check out our monthly roundups, which include the full release list for Disney+, HBO/Max, Peacock, Prime Video and Paramount+.

Before (Apple TV+, Oct. 25)

I know I’m not the only one who felt the “I see dead people” energy from the trailer for Apple’s new psychological thriller Beforewith Billy Crystal.

I always love watching comedians show off their chops in serious dramatic roles (à la Jim Carrey in Eternal sunshine of the flawless mind and Will Ferrell there Stranger than fiction). Here Crystal plays Eli – a child psychiatrist who recently lost his wife. The drama turns sinister when Eli meets a disturbed boy who seems to have a haunting connection to his past. Apple TV+ has been fed up with psychological dramas (like the current hit) lately Disclaimer), And Before definitely has all the makings of Apple’s next must-watch release.

There’s no getting around it: Rock’s elder statesmen are seniors in the truest sense of the word these days. Some, like former Beatle Paul McCartney, still tour despite being in their 80s. At 75, Bruce Springsteen is a little younger but still tours just as tirelessly as Macca – and a new documentary explains why The Boss is still touring after all these years.

In the Disney+ concert documentary Road diaryAccording to the streamer, “Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band offer the most in-depth look into the making of their legendary live performances, including footage from band rehearsals, backstage moments, rare archival clips and personal reflections from Springsteen himself.”

HBO and Max are home to some of the most talked about and compelling documentaries and series, including titles like Wise Guy: David Chase and the Sopranos And Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Children’s Television (to name just a few recent outstanding achievements). In the new Breath of FireFrom directors Hayley Pappas and Smiley Stevens, viewers are introduced to YouTube astrologer Katie Griggs – a yoga influencer of sorts who became the face of Kundalini yoga, a much more intense and meditation-focused version of yoga.

When she became famous, Griggs renamed herself Guru Jagat. Thanks to her promises of prosperity and fulfillment, she attracted all sorts of followers, but Breath of Fire delves deep into the dark side of her story – with a focus on whether she was more of a manipulator than a guru.

The Pasta Queen on Prime VideoImage source: Prime Video

After all, I was looking for a food show that would make my mouth water while waiting, so to speak The bearis the fourth season. If the same applies to you, it might be worth checking out this new TV series from Prime Video, which stars New York Times bestselling author Nadia Caterina Munno, a descendant of an Italian pasta dynasty.

Nadia, who has millions of followers on social media, takes viewers on a journey to four regions of Italy, showcasing their cuisine and ingredients. She also walks viewers step-by-step through the preparation of authentic Italian dishes, including Puglian staples like Orecchiette con Pomodoro e Cacioricotta and Cozze alla Tarantina – and her culinary creations are, unsurprisingly, works of art in the truest sense of the word. If I were you, I wouldn’t watch this show on an empty stomach.
