Can you start Tyler Boyd or Chig Okonkwo if Calvin Ridley sits?

Calvin Ridley ($5,200) is the clear No. 1 wideout for the Titans after DeAndre Hopkins was traded to the Chiefs this week, but Ridley is leaning toward not playing against the Lions this Sunday. The receiver missed his second straight practice on Thursday due to a foot injury.

When Ridley sits, Tyler Boyd ($3,900) will be Tennessee’s top receiver by default Chig Okonkwo ($3,100) will probably see more targets too. However, there are many problems in this situation. First of all: Will Levi’s ($4,400) ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler called putting a “long shot” earlier this week Mason Rudolph ($4,400) is set for his second consecutive start.

Entering last week against the Bills, Rudolph completed 62.5% of his passes for 215 yards, one touchdown and one pick. The veteran is averaging just 5.3 yards per pass this season, ranking 36th out of 39 qualified quarterbacks.

In addition to terrible quarterback play, Boyd and Okonkwo will have to contend with a Detroit defense that is by far the top-rated defense in PFF this season. Rudolph is likely to have major problems at this point and Boyd and Okonkwo are therefore unlikely to achieve much. Neither is considered in cross-season formats, and while Boyd and Okonkwo are tempting for DFS due to their cheap prices, their potential is severely limited and they must be avoided in this format as well.
