There is a high risk of fire on Monday and Tuesday

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Although rain chances have recently returned to forecast, our overall dry trend over the past few months continues to take its toll on the region. Light rain has not improved the dry vegetation and with warmth and wind returning on Monday and Tuesday, the risk of fire is likely to be very high.

Strong winds will warm us up and we will climb into the 80s both afternoons! This will be associated with gusts into the mid 40s. Gusts on Monday will remain between 30 and low 40 degrees, with some gusts as high as 45 degrees. Conditions are expected to be a little windier on Tuesday.

The chance of rain tends to be higher throughout the day on Tuesday, meaning there will be lower humidity. Once the rain arrives, chances will remain through Wednesday, but with totals under 0.25 inches, things are looking relatively light for most. This likely keeps us on track to officially experience the driest September and October on record, with just 0.25″ in the rain gauge for Omaha so far.
