TBI Investigates “Use of Force Shooting” in Jackson County

GAINESBORO, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating a “violent shooting” that occurred in Jackson County on Wednesday.

TBI said officers in Jackson County went to an address on Twin Tower Road to conduct a court-ordered eviction and while they were on scene, a resident of the home fired a shot in the direction of officers. Deputies then returned fire.

The person then barricaded himself in a room but was eventually arrested.

No one was injured in the shooting.

TBI’s investigation into the incident is ongoing as it continues to collect evidence and determine the events leading up to the shooting. They will report their findings to the Attorney General’s Office for further review.

“The TBI does not identify the officers involved in these incidents and instead refers questions of this nature to the appropriate departments to respond at their discretion,” TBI said.
