Watch Live: Debate between Burgess Owens and Katrina Fallick-Wang for Utah’s 4th House District

SALT LAKE CITY – Reps. Burgess Owens and Katrina Fallick-Wang of Utah will conclude a series of nonpartisan general election debates Thursday evening as they campaign to represent Utah’s 4th Congressional District.

Owens, a former professional football player, was first elected in 2020 and is seeking his third full term in Congress. The Republican is a member of the House Education and Labor Committee and has made education an important part of his time in Congress. Owens has promoted school choice policies and criticized what he calls “indoctrination” at some elite universities.

Democrat Fallick-Wang is a relative newcomer to politics, having grown up in Washington state and moving to Utah in 2008 from the state’s growing tech sector. She has spoken about the intersection of technology and environmental protection and hopes to remove “hurdles” and “regulations” that she says stand in the way of promoting clean energy.

Thursday’s debate, the seventh and final general election campaign hosted by the nonprofit Utah Debate Commission, begins at 6 p.m. in the PBS Utah Studio on the University of Utah campus. KUER Deputy News Director Caroline Ballard will moderate. The debate will be broadcast live in full below.
