Top 25 High School Football Rankings in West Virginia (10/24/2024)

Top 25 High School Football Rankings in West Virginia (10/24/2024)

It’s that time of year, everyone. High school football games began across the state of West Virginia from October 17th to 19th and there was plenty of great action.

The No. 1 team in the Mountain State continues to be powerhouse Martinsburg, followed by Spring Mills, followed by Bridgeport and Fairmont Senior.

Here is the complete breakdown of West Virginia’s elite high school football teams as we see them heading into Week 9 of the 2024 season.

Martinsburg football

It’s hard to argue with that. The Bulldogs have shut out three of the seven opponents they have faced this season and have scored just 56 points so far. When it comes to Martinsburg at No. 1, there are no big arguments here.

The other team from the city of Martinsburg has been playing pretty well all season and their biggest game of the year comes this week when they take on the Bulldogs (see above).

The top AAA team in our rankings remains Bridgeport, with the Indians coming off a 57-7 win over Preston last week.

Polar Bears quarterback Brody Whitehair has been very efficient this season, completing 92 of 128 passes for 1,838 yards and 21 touchdowns.

The only loss this season came at the hands of No. 1 Martinsburg. Otherwise, Huntington is pure dominance this fall.

Chance Barker looked great under center for Princeton, completing 74 of 104 passes for 1,436 yards, 20 touchdowns and just two interceptions. The quarterback was one of the best in the state.

The Redskins looked a lot more like themselves when they pulled out a 63-28 win over Capital a few weeks ago.

The Timberwolves bounced back from a loss to Huntington with a 53-26 victory over Woodrow Wilson.

Wheeling Park remains in the top 10 after a 34-14 loss to Fairmont Senior last week. They rebounded with a 47-20 win against Butler last week.

We look at the losses Jefferson has suffered this season and don’t want to let these guys fall too far down the list. The most recent decision is a 42-12 decision for Martinsburg. The Cougars have won three straight, the most recent victory being a 48-26 victory over Millbrook.

The Patriots were riding on running back Saiyvon Brown, who passed for 1,039 yards and nine touchdowns this fall.

Hoover continued its undefeated streak, defeating Ripley 56-28 last week.

Connor Lambert was a scoring machine for the White Falcons, scoring 28 touchdowns in eight games and running for 1,396 yards on 76 carries.

Through the first six games, the Falcons averaged an incredible 42.5 points per game. Impressive numbers for this talented group so far this season.

We really like the Wildcats’ offense and the play of their quarterback Josh Moody, who threw for 2,046 yards, 22 touchdowns and five interceptions.

The Yellow Jackets lost their first game of the season 27-7 to Frankport.

The Flying Eagles made their ranking debut a few weeks after posting a 43-7 win. Woodrow Wilson lost its second game of the season 14-7 to Princeton.

As one of the top teams in Class AA, Roane County continues to climb after a 55-6 win over Logan.

The Red Devils make their debut on this list after beating Independence 21-20 a few weeks ago.

The Patriots only suffered two losses this season to teams on this list: Princeton and Oak Hill.

Morgantown moves up from last place after defeating a tough Parkersburg team 28-14 last week.

The Patriots have lost two in a row after a 28-14 loss to Morgantown. The last two games against Princeton and Spring Mills were awesome.

The Mountain Lions have relied on the outstanding play of running back Jared Reall, who ran for 1,276 yards and scored 24 touchdowns.

Isaac Martin was a leader on the ground this season, leading the team with 822 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Bulldogs quarterback Brysen Dixon has been sensational this season, throwing for 1,070 yards, 16 touchdowns and just a single interception.
