Davenport police and fire departments share Halloween safety tips as families prepare for trick-or-treating

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) – Community members grabbed their costumes and friends to head to Rock Island’s family-friendly “Fright Night in the Park” event, but Davenport police and fire departments say safety is still top priority should have priority.

The event took place from 5 to 7 p.m. at Schwiebert Riverfront Park, 101 17th Street, and was free to the community.

With all the Halloween festivities happening this time of year, Davenport Police and Fire Departments shared tips on how trick-or-treaters can stay safe while still enjoying the spooky fun.

“If a separation occurs, we need to know which children we’re looking for…’They went out dressed like that,’ that kind of accountability is very important to us,” said Davenport Fire Lt. Zach Soliz.

Fright Night was full of fun events including:

  • DJ and Halloween dances
  • Trick or treat and goodie bags
  • Costume competition with great prizes
  • Fun with the whole family
