Aliyah’s interlude brought Avantika on stage for her killer performance at the 2024 Club Cosmo Awards

Our favorite It Girl (heh) Aliyah Bah, aka Aliyah’s Interlude, took center stage tonight to perform at the Club Cosmo Awards in New York City, and she did not disappoint. The musician and slash general icon performed a *chef’s kiss* medley of her best hits, including “IT GIRL,” “Fashion Icon” and “Moodboard.”

In case you didn’t know, the awards ceremony was held in collaboration with Cosmopolitan and UTA. Creatives, trendsetters, musicians, and actors alike converged on the Refinery Rooftop at Domino to attend the first-ever conference featuring only Generation Z speakers, which *also* served as the official introduction to the first Club Cosmo course. And everything was accompanied by Aliyah’s interlude.

Recently Aliyah spoke to ESSENCE Girls United about the source of inspiration for her music – including the hit “IT GIRL”.

“I’ve always been interested in house music, and I think that was moving to New York and being involved in the LGBTQ and ballroom scenes [I heard] This music all the time,” she told the outlet. “The song didn’t even have a house beat before, but I found the beat and thought, ‘I have to do this and it will be just perfect.'”

The musician also spoke about her style during a candid conversation with her Fashionista: “[My personal style] Influences [my music] in every single way, shape and form. I always say this, but: My art is an extension of who I am as a person. Whether it’s fashion or music, it will always be girly, fun, sweet and alternative. If Aliyahcore had a soundtrack, “IT GIRL” would be the soundtrack. I feel like as a person – as Aliyah’s interlude – I’m a ‘fashion icon’.”
