Jerod Mayo of the Patriots is not taking responsibility after a miserable start

New England Patriots first-year head coach Jerod Mayo finally changed his mind during his press conference on Wednesday.

He stopped berating the players for their “softness” and sharpened his responses in a more Bill Belichick-like manner.

But George Balekji and Travis Thomas still had a problem with the way Mayo approaches the media side and voiced it on the NESN podcast “Boston Has Entered The Chat.”

“He doesn’t say, ‘Yeah, I have to adapt as a coach,'” Balekji said. “(He says), ‘We have to be solid on every play. You have to listen to my coaching.’ But he doesn’t say, ‘I have to change something.’ Again, there is no responsibility.”

Thomas believes Mayo is “pointing the finger” at his players rather than taking the majority of responsibility for the Patriots’ miserable 1-6 start.

Maybe it’s Mayo trying to deflect attention away from him, as he could potentially lose his job if the situation continues to deteriorate for the Patriots this season.
