VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) – Authorities confirmed that an investigation into an incident led to a fatal collision with a sheriff’s deputy in the city of Victorville on Thursday afternoon.

On October 24, 2024 at approximately 3:15 p.m., emergency responders were requested to respond to Mall Blvd and Petaluma Road for a gunshot victim.

Upon arrival, they located a man in the roadway near the passenger side of a black GMC pickup truck that had stopped at the intersection.

The person who was shot was treated at the scene before being transported by ambulance.

“An investigation into an incident that resulted in a collision involving deadly force is ongoing. There is no further information available at this time,” sheriff’s spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez said.

An adult woman with four small children was taken away from the scene by an investigator and into a waiting vehicle. A sheriff’s deputy was observed removing two car seats from the interior of the truck.

The City of Victorville Public Works Department responded to the incident and ordered closures at Petaluma/Sepulveda, Bear Valley Road/Mall Blvd. and Mall Blvd near JCPenney.

At around 5:30 p.m., VVNG asked the spokeswoman about the condition of the person who was shot and Rodriguez said it was “unconfirmed.”

The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
