Romano: “Discussions begin” about Reijnder’s contract extension

Tijjani Reijnders has often played a central role for the Rossoneri since his move last summer and AC Milan are already looking to extend his stay at the club.

While the Dutchman was often in the starting lineup, he rarely had a permanent place in the lineup due to the largely hidden lack of depth in midfield. However, this was not a problem for Reijnders as he stated his ability to play any midfield role a press conference earlier this week.

Milan have therefore looked to capitalize on this and signing Youssouf Fofana in the summer will unlock the midfielder’s best. Provided he can influence the game from deep, but has the freedom to attack due to Fofana’s more defensive positioning.

It is therefore no surprise that the Rossoneri are seeking an extension to Reijnders’ contract, which does not expire until 2028, as a reward for his good performances and as a sign of his importance to the team.

As Fabrizio Romano explained this morning, the Diavolo are starting talks with him and his camp and although there is “no rush”, the club sees him as one important part of the project and want to reflect that.
