Last debate in the governor’s race before the election

UPDATE (October 25, 2024):

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana’s three candidates for governor held their final debate Thursday night before voters decide which of them will succeed Gov. Eric Holcomb.

Republican U.S. Senator Mike Braun did his best to fend off attacks from Democrat Jennifer McCormick and Libertarian Donald Rainwater.

Rainwater said Braun “admitted tonight that he is the ultimate insider with a lot of government experience.”

He said that means Braun is “in the middle of the action” on whatever Hoosiers are frustrated about with the federal or state government. McCormick criticized Republican candidate for lieutenant governor Micah Beckwith as a self-described Christian nationalist who is ultra-conservative.

UPDATE (October 4, 2024):

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – The second of three scheduled debates in the race for Indiana governor took place last night in Indianapolis. Libertarian candidate Donald Rainwater joined Republican candidate Mike Braun and Democratic candidate Jennifer McCormick for the first time. The three were asked about property taxes, marijuana legalization, affordable housing and more.

The third and final debate is scheduled for October 24th.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Republican U.S. Senator Mike Braun and Democratic candidate for governor Jennifer McCormick debated Wednesday night.

The two are vying to succeed term-limited Gov. Eric Holcomb in November. Braun said he would be open to raising Indiana’s minimum wage to $7.25 but would likely prioritize economic development instead. McCormick says she would consider a pay raise.

On abortion, McCormick supports lifting the state’s ban on the procedure, while Braun would keep it in place.
