MBTA employees on leave amid criminal investigation – NECN

Nearly a dozen MBTA employees are on leave and under criminal investigation.

And now the T answers.

The focus of this investigation is the Cabot Yard maintenance facility in South Boston. The facility is used to store and maintain Red Line vehicles and buses and is home to Red Line track workers and inspectors.

The MBTA Transit Police is conducting an investigation into possible employee misconduct.

Ten employees have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation. This is the alleged misuse of resources for non-work-related activities.

According to the Boston Globe, these employees were said to have been working on private vehicles at Cabot Yard during work hours.

It is unclear how this suspected criminal activity was discovered.

In a statement, MBTA CEO Phillip Eng said, “We take these allegations very seriously and any findings from this investigation will be addressed appropriately and consistent with our core values. “As public servants, we have an obligation to properly discharge our duties…”

The T says it will take any necessary disciplinary action in this matter.
