CW Anderson recalls TNA debut: “Vince Russo called it the best match of the night” – PWMania

Pro wrestling veteran CW Anderson spoke to Fightful about a number of topics, including his debut bout with TNA in 2004 and how he was praised by Vince Russo.

Anderson said: “I wrestled the first ever TNA match. I tagged with Tugboat’s kid. I tagged with him against Shark Boy and D-Ray. At the end of the night I’m sitting and standing there and Vince Russo is on one side and Jeff Jarrett is on the other side. Vince Russo looks at Jeff Jarrett and asks, “How does CW come off the road and have the best match of the night?” Jeff says, “Because he’s a damn good worker.” Of course, nothing ever came of that. Because I heard from Jerry Lynn that Dutch Mantell said, “I was too overweight and didn’t look like I was in shape.” So nothing ever came of that.”

On meeting Too Cold Scorpio at Hardcore Justice 2010:

“But the thing with Scorpio was that Scorpio kind of pushed me to work him and myself the same way. I had used him in favor of Francine not long ago, and Scorp told me that he and I only had chemistry in the ring with two other people, Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit. Another compliment to hang your hat on. So we recruited each other to work against each other, and Scorp and I have the same style, which is the Japanese strong style, where when we work against each other, we’re a little stiff with each other. but it is safe. But I loved working with Scorpio, the chemistry between him was great. I only had this one match on YouTube where he blew me away with a shot, where he did a moonsault into the leg drop and his ass landed on my face and blew me away for seven minutes. It was brutal. Yes, I wasn’t breathing. Before that I had just gotten married and you see my wife at the time jumping into the ring and Corino jumping into the ring. You can hear him turn off the camera because I was still outside. I didn’t breathe for two or three minutes. This resulted in brain damage. But in wrestling, mistakes happen. This isn’t ballet. But I love this match with Scorpio.”
