10 MBTA employees at Cabot Yard are reportedly on leave due to a criminal investigation

10 MBTA employees at Cabot Yard are reportedly on leave due to a criminal investigation

According to multiple reports, nearly a dozen employees who work at the MBTA’s Cabot Yard maintenance facility are on administrative leave pending an investigation into allegations that they worked on private vehicles during work hours.

MBTA CEO Philip Eng told The Boston Globe, “It looks like they did something on MBTA property or during MBTA time that they shouldn’t have done.”

“As civil servants, we have an obligation to fulfill the duties we have assumed in the roles,” Eng told the newspaper. “These employees obviously didn’t do that.”

An MBTA spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request sent Friday morning to confirm Eng’s comments.

The investigation is focused on the MBTA Cabot Yard maintenance facility in South Boston, WCVB-TV reported. According to its official website, the transit agency “stores and services” Red Line cars at the facility.

“Any findings from this investigation will be addressed appropriately and consistent with our core values,” Eng told WCVB.
