First responders helped rescue residents of a burning apartment building in Lehigh County early Friday, a source close to the fire department and residents said.

The fire broke out just before 3 a.m. on Oct. 25, 2024, at the Independence Square Apartments complex on Maryland Circle in Fullerton, Pennsylvania, Lehigh County 911 dispatchers said.

The fire spread to three alarms before it was brought under control. said the source.

It was not clear whether anyone was injured.

Resident “Lucille” said she initially didn’t think anything of the knock on her door. “Then they started banging… and I see the fire department at my door.”

“When they said ‘Get out,’ I was like, ‘Okay, I’m leaving,'” she said while standing outside her home.

She said she smelled smoke as she walked down the steps of the second-floor apartment she had just moved into last week.

Firefighters and equipment remained on scene hours after the fire broke out. On a chilly morning you could see some people walking around outside.
