Candidates for three legislative positions in northwest Iowa are debating issues such as school vouchers, the renewable energy pipeline, abortion and more

Early voting is currently underway in Iowa, and many candidates are seeking seats in the Iowa Legislature.

There are several Iowa House races with only one candidate on the ballot. But there are also many contested races in northwest Iowa with Democrats and Republicans running, and one in House District 13 with three on the ballot.

That race includes Independent Parker Hansen of Correctionville, who described himself as a conservative who will support the values ​​and concerns of the people of District 13 without the constraints of party affiliation. The other two on the ballot are Democratic Party candidate Rosanne Plante of Hinton and Republican Travis Sitzmann of Le Mars.

In House District 1, which includes parts of Sioux City, Republican Josh Steinhoff is trying to unseat incumbent Democrat JD Scholten.

In Iowa House District 2 in Sioux City, Republican incumbent Bob Henderson is being opposed by Democrat Jess Lopez-Walker.
