Apple won’t be releasing an introductory video for its upcoming Mac announcements, so YouTuber Jon Prosser created one anyway.

It’s mostly a way to predict what Apple’s announcements will entail, but it’s also very lovingly done, with mostly very successful attempts to look like it was filmed at Apple Park. Prosser plays a character who, although not named Tim Cook, is undoubtedly one.

Beyond the list of predictions, it’s this imitation of Cook that works best. Cook has a specific rhythm to his speech and also a limited number of hand gestures to accompany it.

This rhythm and these gestures are imitated perfectly. The joke of the video is that a sentence begins the way Cook would say it, such as “customers love the current design,” but ends with something he wouldn’t – “particularly the notch.”

Sometimes the joke falls a little flat, like when the description of the M4 processor ends in a line that says “truly the best chip Apple has ever delivered.”

The “Tim Cook” segments in and around Apple Park are particularly successful.

A short paragraph with “our senior vice president of software engineering” is less successful. It shows Prosser wearing a Craig Federighi-esque wig, admitting to having no news against a poorly rendered background.

As for what Apple will release in announcement week, Prosser’s video says we’ll see:

  1. M4 MacBook Pro in Space Black with three Thunderbolt ports and 16 GB of RAM
  2. Apple claims a 20% performance increase over M3
  3. Redesigned and smaller Mac mini
  4. M4 24-inch iMac with 16GB RAM
  5. New USB-C Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad

In keeping with all current predictions, the Mac mini is the only Mac to get a significant redesign. For everything else, Prosser as Tim Cook says, “So please enjoy the same design for longer.”

There was some doubt as to whether the iMac would receive an M4 update, as it was last updated to M3 in November 2023. There was also the question of whether there will be a redesign, particularly to create a larger model, but there was nothing concrete to indicate that.

Of course, Apple isn’t saying what the announcements will be, but the company has made it very clear that this week’s news will be about the Mac.

Previous rumors have also made it at least unlikely that this week’s news will contain even a hint of an updated Mac Pro or Mac Studio. These are still not expected before the end of 2025.
