Microsoft has released the latest Windows 11 build to Windows Insider Program members in the Beta Channel, with build number 22635.4435 at KB5044377. This new build features a new admin keyboard shortcut, some changes to dynamic lighting support, and a number of bug fixes. There is also a way to configure the Copilot key again after it was removed from previous beta builds.

Here is the changelog:

Changes and improvements will be gradually rolled out in the Beta channel when the option is enabled

[General]

If you hold down Shift + CTRL while clicking a Jump List item in the Start menu or taskbar, that item will now launch as an administrator, just as if you pressed Shift + CTRL and clicked the app icon itself. For example, if you right-click the Windows Terminal and hold down the Shift and CTRL keys while clicking PowerShell, a PowerShell window will open as an administrator.

[Dynamic Lighting]

  • When no compatible devices are connected, the Dynamic Lighting settings page now displays a placeholder message and the brightness and effects controls are disabled.
  • On the Dynamic Lighting settings page, we added Forward, Backward, Outward, and Inward direction options to the wave effect and a Forward Direction option to the gradient effect.

Fixes that will be gradually rolled out in the Beta channel when the option is enabled

[Taskbar]

  • Another fix for the issue of WIN+ not working in some cases on recent flights.
  • Fixed an issue where the X button to close an app window from the taskbar was not working for some Insiders.

[Input]

  • Fixed an underlying issue that could cause the mouse to unlock after opening and closing Game Bar from a game window on a multi-monitor system, preventing you from using it in-game.

Changes and improvements will be gradually rolled out to everyone in the Beta channel

[Settings]

  • After disabling the ability to configure the Copilot key with build 22635.4291, we are re-enabling this functionality with improvements. We’ve limited the apps that can be launched with the Copilot button to those apps that have opted in to this experience. This is to ensure that apps to which the key relates are aware that they are being used in this way and meet security and privacy requirements to keep customers safe. We’ll be posting how apps can sign up for this experience here on this Microsoft Learn page soon. As a reminder, this setting can be found under Settings > Personalization > Text input.

Fixes for everyone in the Beta Channel

[Other]

This update contains fixes for the following issues:

  • [Bluetooth] Fixed: An app stops responding due to a memory leak on a device.
  • [Product activation phone numbers] Fixed: This will add new phone numbers for multiple regions.
  • [Collector sets] Fixed: They will not close properly if an exception occurs during startup or while the set is active. Because of this, the command to stop a collector set becomes unresponsive.
  • [Windows Kernel Vulnerable Driver Blocklist file (DriverSiPolicy.p7b)] This update expands the list of drivers at risk for Bring Your Own Vulnerable Driver (BYOVD) attacks.
  • [Windows Hello for Business] Fixed: Resetting the PIN does not work if you select the “I forgot my PIN” link on the credentials screen.
  • [Multi-Function Printer (MFP)] Fixed: When you connect via a USB cable, a specific network command text is printed on demand.
  • [Microsoft Teams] Fixed: The issue prevents you from joining Teams meetings when you select an Outlook meeting reminder.
  • [Country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA)] Fixed: This update brings profiles for certain carriers up to date.
  • [vmswitch] Fixed: A VMswitch throws a stop error. This occurs when you use Load Balancing and Failover (LBFO) teaming with two virtual switches on a virtual machine (VM). In this case, a virtual switch uses single-root input/output virtualization (SR-IOV).
  • [WebView2 apps] Fixed: They don’t recognize input from Xbox 360 and Bluetooth controllers.
