Spider-Man Noir Amazon series set photos reveal Nicolas Cage’s super suit

Spider-Man Noir Amazon series set photos reveal Nicolas Cage’s super suit

The coming Spider-Man Noir series with Nicolas Cage is currently in production and the first set images have now revealed the superhero suit he will wear in the live-action debut. The series is titled Spider-Noir and follows the same character portrayed by Cage in the acclaimed film Spider-Verse Films, a medieval multiverse variant of Spider-Man that uses old-school gadgets and suit design. It will be a period piece directly inspired by the comics, if the incredibly accurate superhero suit is anything to go by Spider Noir from.

The pictures were leaked on X/Twitter and show a stunt person on the set of Spider Noir from Amazon MGM Studios wears a comic-accurate superhero suit. The glasses, trench coat and period setting are all too familiar to fans of the character, who has appeared in animated form on television and the big screen. While Nicolas Cage is probably not in the suit at the time of the set pictures, it’s safe to assume he’ll don the iconic outfit at some point. Based on production leaks, expect an official look at the upcoming series sooner rather than later.

The steampunk version of Spider-Man has appeared in various media. Although Spider Noir is his live-action debut, fans of the alternate hero can see him in it Spider-Verse and play it in the Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions Video game. The latter is a fan favorite and is widely considered one of the best Spider-Man games of all time, having recently been dethroned by the new Insomniac series, which was featured in animated films. Presumably this was when Spider-Man Noir became relevant in the superhero space, before Cage made the character his own on the big screen.

The first images of Spider-Man Noir look unreal

Instead of the typical Peter Parker Spider-Man story Spider Noir follows a classic 1940s detective with a steampunk aesthetic. In addition to Cage, the series also stars Oscar nominee Brendan Gleeson, who will play the villain in Amazon’s upcoming series. Meanwhile, the supporting cast includes Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice and Amanda Schull. Plot details remain scarce, as are who Gleeson is playing. but the official logline is pretty exciting.

“Spider-Noir tells the story of an aging and down-on-his-luck private detective (Cage) in 1930s New York who is forced to confront his former life as the city’s only superhero.”

An important question that remains unanswered is whether Spider Noir is connected to the Spider-Verse films, or if it’s set in the same multiverse as the MCU. Most likely, Cage was recruited for the upcoming series under the guise that it would be a standalone series and not necessarily directing anything larger. This is probably the best way to tackle one of the most underrated characters in the Spider-Man world. Sony intended to create its own superhero universe with Spidey-related characters, but perhaps left projects like… behind Spider Noir in his own corner is for the better. After all, the award-winning cast is more than enough to justify the adaptation.
