KCPD detectives identify 5 suspects in Midtown shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Kansas City, Missouri, police investigators have identified five suspects in a shooting at a Midtown store in early October.

On Friday, KCPD confirmed to KCTV that three juveniles and two adults were involved in an Oct. 9 shooting on Westport Road.

“An adult is currently in custody and is being held on unrelated charges,” said KCPD Public Information Officer Alayna Gonzalez.

The detective presented the file to the public prosecutor’s office on Thursday for consideration of the current charges. KCTV reached out to the district attorney’s office to ask when and what the charges were, but have not yet heard back.

On October 15, the city of Kansas City shut down the Westport Media Collective following the shooting, saying the company did not have a valid operating license. The business also did not have a current fire marshal inspection and was forced to close immediately due to the violations.

A KCPD spokesman told KCTV earlier this month that five people were injured in the shooting, three of them critically injured and two others seriously injured.

This is a developing story. KCTV will update as more information becomes available.
