2021 Arrest in Long Beach Camp Shooting – Press-Telegram

A Lakewood man has been arrested on suspicion of the January 2021 murder of a Long Beach man at a homeless camp.

The suspect was identified as 47-year-old Andrew Reyna of Lakewood. Reyna was arrested at a motel in Lynwood on Wednesday, October 23 and is being held on $2 million bail.

The shooting occurred on January 10, 2021 at approximately 8:10 p.m. in the 2300 block of East 68th Street at a homeless encampment adjacent to the west side of the 91 Freeway. According to Long Beach Police, the incident is being investigated in a gang-related manner. The motive is currently being investigated.

Samuel Villalba, a 64-year-old Long Beach man and resident of the camp, was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Witnesses present on site reported He saw two or more male suspects leave the scene toward Cherry Avenue.
