Women’s tennis with a solid day of doubles play at the SJSU Hidden Dual Opener

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA. – On the first day of the San Jose State Hidden Dual on Friday, Santa Clara women’s tennis had a solid performance in doubles against Pacific, winning all three matches. In singles, the Broncos won one of six games against San Jose State’s lineup.

The hidden dual-play format includes singles matches against one team and doubles matches against another team every day. The teams line up and play similar to a team dual match like in the spring, but there is no team ranking, only individual wins and losses.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Anna Rahman won both her singles and doubles matches.
• Rahman defeated Olaya Bances 7-5, 7-5 in singles while she paired in doubles Kacey Feng to beat Katarina Brajovic and Nahreen Cheam 7:6 (7:5).
• Santa Clara also picked up double victories Tian Yu Dong And Jillian Roa who defeated Megan Carmichael and Milena Maiorova 6:3. Velizara Fileva And Juliette Krumholz defeated Leyanne Hirota and Maggie Hoe 6-0.

NEXT:

• Day two of the San Jose State Hidden Dual continues Saturday starting at 9 a.m. with the Broncos taking on UC Davis in singles play. SCU then plays a doubleheader against San Jose State at noon.
