WWE SmackDown Results: Winners, Live Scores, Reactions and Highlights from October 25th | News, results, highlights, statistics and rumors

Gunther and Rhodes had another in-person meeting this week to discuss their upcoming Crown Jewel Championship match. This wasn’t much different than the last time they spoke.

The American Nightmare lost his temper and attacked Gunther. Ludwig Kaiser appeared to help the Ring General. Orton ran down to make the save and drive Imperium away.

After both teams won a qualifying match last week, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano took on Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley in a No. 1 contenders match.

This is the type of match that many fans thought was impossible for a long time, so for a certain group of fans, seeing MCMG vs. DIY was something of a dream match.

Gargano and Shelley began with a quick exchange of holds and reversals. They reached a stalemate and shook hands before Ciampa tagged in.

Both duos utilized their patented style of double-team offense and it became clear that MCMG heavily influenced DIY due to the similarity of their offense. The big difference between the two teams was Ciampa’s aggressiveness when he got angry.

It was a fast-paced and energetic game with both teams looking great. Both duos could have won and the fans would have been happy, but a miscommunication led to Gargano superkicking Ciampa. This allowed Shelley and Sabin to hit their finisher and take the win.

Result: Motor City Machine Guns defeated DIY

Notable moments and observations

  • Lin-Manuel Miranda sat in the crowd.
  • Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill were told in a backstage segment that they would defend the women’s tag titles in a Fatal 4-Way at Crown Jewel.
  • The pyro for MCMG is kind of funny because the first few pops barely made any noise, but it also kind of worked.
  • Michael Cole and Graves gave a good overview of the history between Gargano and Shelley.
