Cause of death announced for Wells Fargo employee found dead at desk four days after arriving

TEMPE, Ariz. (KPHO/Gray News) – The cause of death of a Wells Fargo employee found dead at her desk over the summer has been released.

The Maricopa County coroner said 60-year-old Denise Prudhomme died of “sudden cardiac death due to myocardial fibrosis,” meaning scar tissue formed in the heart.

Medical experts say heart attacks are often the most common cause of the disease.

According to Tempe police, Prudhomme, who worked at Wells Fargo’s corporate headquarters near Priest Drive and Washington Street, was looking for his job at 7 a.m. on August 16

Four days later, on August 20, Tempe officers responded to reports of a fallen person and found Prudhomme dead.

Employees said Prudhomme’s cabin was on the third floor and off the main hallway.

Authorities said investigators found no signs of crime.
