Scott reaches the quarter-finals of the Bedford Cup

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Andrew Scott ended the first day of North Florida men’s tennis competition with two singles victories in the main draw of the Bedford Cup, held Friday afternoon in Florida.

Scott picked up back-to-back singles wins in straight sets against FGCU’s Jonathan Baron and Stetson’s Xavier Sarda Marti to advance to the quarterfinals of the Orange draw. His upcoming clash will be against Florida’s Tanapatt Nirundorn to reach the final four.

Spencer Dorosheff He also picked up a singles victory in his Bedford Cup debut with a three-set match that came down to the last minute against FGCU’s Christopher Smith. Bruno Vietri, Lorenzo Messina, Jean Delozière And Benjamin Scott joined the two Ospreys in singles and doubles to compete in the early rounds of the fall event.

North Florida continues its week with the next round of play in the Bedford Cup, hosted by Florida on Saturday, October 25th. Scott is looking to move further down the ranks in singles, while the rest of the UNF squad will play consolation matches in singles and doubles.
