Weather in Seattle: Wet and windy start to the weekend

The FOX 13 Seattle Weather Team has issued a regional weather advisory for our coastal areas, Admiralty Inlet and portions of the North Sound. Strong winds are forecast for these locations overnight Friday into early Saturday morning. Gusts of around 80 km/h are possible.

Gusty winds will impact Western Washington late Friday and early Saturday morning.

A wind advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. along the coast and from 11 p.m. in the Bay Area and western Skagit and Whatcom counties. The warning expires around 5 a.m. The warning expires at 7 a.m. for Port Townsend.

Portions of the Washington coast, Admiralty Inlet, and Skagit and Whatcom Counties will experience strong winds overnight.

Isolated power outages and possible tree damage may occur in recommended locations. The Central and South Sound areas are not included in this advisory. The weather forecast shows that it will be windy elsewhere, but well below the recommended criteria.

What to expect with the wind overnight?

Gusty winds may cause isolated power outages and some tree damage overnight.

Along with the wind, there will also be rain onshore during the night. Most places will experience light rain, although moderate to heavy rain may occur overnight. There will be some dry spells on Saturday, but isolated showers will continue in the area, so keep your rain gear handy.

The first round of rain showers will hit the Seattle area late Friday evening into early Saturday.

The weekend will remain active into Sunday as a second system comes into force. This brings the possibility of snow flurries in the mountains, along with the possibility of isolated storms in the lowlands. The week will be unsettled and there is a chance of rain on most days.
