Arkansas man wanted in 2021 drive-by shooting found in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – An Arkansas man wanted for a 2021 drive-by shooting near the Oklahoma border has been found in Kansas City and is expected to return to face his alleged crimes.

District Court records in Jackson County, Missouri, revealed that on Monday, October 21, Darrius G. McGill, 24, a wanted man from Arkansas, was found in Kansas City, nearly three years after a shooting in Fort Smith.

Fort Smith, Arkansas police said that on November 21, 2021, officers responded to the area of ​​North St. and Boone Ave. with reports of a drive-by shooting. were called.

Witnesses reported that several gunshots were heard as two people were seen running back to a nearby home, where they got into a two-door Pontiac and sped away.

Footage from the neighbor’s surveillance cameras showed that McGill and Jushaun Mays both fired multiple shots. It was also determined that the getaway car belonged to Mays. Arrest warrants were issued for both in December.

According to court documents, McGill was then charged with acts of terrorism.

On Oct. 21, Judge Travis R. Willingham signed McGill’s extradition order to Arkansas, where his case will be heard. As of Friday, October 25, McGill remains behind bars in Kansas City.
