Raise that cap – Park Record

Raise that cap – Park Record

Please vote for Amendment B in November. If passed, Amendment B will provide an additional $107,867 in School Land Trust funds for a total of $937,617 per year for the Park City School District at no cost to Utah taxpayers arise.

Utah has a $3.3 billion endowment for public schools, the State School Fund. Each year, Utah schools receive School Lan Trust distributions from this state school fund, currently capped at 4% by the state constitution.

By raising the cap to 5%, current students will receive more money while protecting the wealth of future generations. Today’s students need and deserve this additional education funding.

School Land Trust distributions are unique. Each school community council – made up of parents, teachers and administrators – determines the greatest academic needs at their school and applies their distributions accordingly.

The 2023 legislative session voted unanimously to place Amendment B on the 2024 ballot. In addition, the constitutional amendment is supported by the following bodies:
Utah PTA Utah Taxpayers Association, Utah State Board of Education, Utah School Boards Association, Utah School Superintendents Association, Utah Rural Schools Association, Utah Treasurer Marlo Oaks.

Show your support for our schools this November. Vote for Amendment B.

State Representative Mike L. Kohler
