Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Gets New Nuketown Multiplayer Map

Black Ops 6 players will be able to cause carnage in a remastered version of Nuketown as part of an upcoming update to the blockbuster game.

It’s the moment long-time fans of the shooter have been waiting for. Since its debut in the first Black Ops in 2010, the classic Nuketown map has been reimagined for each subsequent entry in the Call of Duty sub-series.

This time things will be different yet eerily familiar. As older players will note, this Nuketown is a recreation of the original, which looks like a quaint American cul-de-sac from the 1950s.

However, upon closer inspection, you’ll notice that it’s not human residents loitering outside their two-story homes, but rather mannequins. The entire environment is a facade. Nuketown is actually a nuclear test site in the middle of the Nevada desert.

With the remaster, Activision has performed a much-needed restoration, filling the bullet holes in the walls and repaving the cratered, explosive-filled streets. The dolls are back and the vintage cars, including a bright yellow school bus and a military jeep, are still parked in the same spots.

For its part, Activision promises a faithful recreation of the original with a visual overhaul suitable for the latest consoles and gaming PCs.

While fans will celebrate its arrival, it won’t do much to alleviate the criticism surrounding the game.

Although critics have widely hailed Black Ops 6 as a return to form, some players are upset by what they see as a poor selection of multiplayer maps. The main problem seems to be the small size of these places, which range from abandoned train stations to luxury condominiums.

These compact spaces can feel even more cramped thanks to the new Omnimovement system, which allows players to slide and run around more freely.

As a result, players have complained about spawn traps and a lack of protection from devastating scorestreaks like the relentless Chopper Gunner. Some players were upset about the same characteristics of the original Nuketown, so don’t expect the action to cool down any time soon.

When is Nuketown release date?

Nuketown arrives in Black Ops 6 on Friday, November 1st, bringing the number of multiplayer maps to 17.

Before that, the newly released Infected mode lets you fend off a growing tide of mutated players who, once eliminated, will be transformed into eldritch ghouls. Or maybe you start as the one doing the infection. It’s another re-release of a franchise that regularly reintroduces old modes and maps. But hey, if it ain’t broke.

When does Black Ops season 1 start?

The updates are expected to continue until the release of Black Ops 6’s first season on November 14th, when the game will be integrated into Warzone, the free-to-play version of Call of Duty. Until then, between the braggadocious campaign, multiplayer, and zombies, there’s plenty to keep players busy.
