USPS – No comment on allegations of dumping of North Dakota mail

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Valley News Live investigated a VNL whistleblower’s claims that a mail carrier dumped mail from the Fargo or Grand Forks distribution centers on the side of the road last week. They claim the discarded mail contained “several” ballots from the Langdon area.

We contacted regional USPS officials, who initially said they would look into the matter before referring us to the US Postal Service Office of the Inspector General (OIG).

Daniel P. Cozzi, deputy special agent and public information officer in the U.S. Postal Service’s Central Area Field Office of Inspector General, would neither confirm nor deny the allegations.

The full statement said:

“I received your media request below. In accordance with USPS OIG standard protocol, the USPS OIG does not confirm or refute information related to any potential ongoing USPS OIG investigation, except for matters where details of the investigation become public knowledge.

To report suspected mail theft, discarded mail, fraud, and other mail crimes committed by postal employees or contractors, please contact the USPS OIG Hotline at //www.uspsoig.gov/hotline.
